AL SUNUNU IN LEBANON

The project was implemented in Lebanon from 2010 until 2015, benefiting a total of 143 children aged between 8 and 16 years old.

In 2015, there are 4 choirs gathering children from UNRWA schools: Ramallah school in the Shatila refugee camp and Bireh school in Burj Al Barajneh refugee camp, Beirut area.

CONCERTS

During the project, Al Sununu choirs participated in concerts organised in honour of AER’s visits as well as other occasions. At the end of each year, a graduation concert was organised to award students with a certificate of completion.

2011:
– June: AER Graduation
– November: Palestinian cultural event in Bourj Al Barajneh camp.

2012:
– May: « Open Physical Activities » of UNRWA at Siblin training centre.
– June: AER Graduation.

– Al Madina Theatre for UNRWA-EU exhibition « The View from the Ground – What does education mean to you? ».
– Haifa school.

2013:
– February: « Ahlamouna Center » in Bourj Al Barajneh camp.
– April:
– concert-rehearsal at Babel Theatre.
– concert via satellite at Babel Theatre with participation of the singer Oumeima Al Khalil.
– May: « Ahlam Lajeh » in the Shatila camp.
– October: World Teachers Day at UNESCO Palace.

2014:
– March: AER Graduation at the Ramallah school (Shatila camp) and in Bireh school (Burj Al Barajneh camp).
– May: « Student Parliament Forum » by UNRWA and the Norwegian Refugee Council at UNESCO Palace
– October: World Teachers Day at UNESCO Palace.

2015:
– March: AER Graduation at the Ramallah school (VIDEO).
– April: « Open Physical Activities » of UNRWA at Siblin training centre.

WORKSHOPS

During the project, Al Sununu choirs and teachers were invited to participate in workshops and trainings.

2012:
– June : Workshop for all Al Sununu music teachers from the West Bank and Lebanon in Jerash, Jordan.

2013:
– July : Notre Dame University – Louaize (NDU), musical summer activities organised by the Lebanese Band Association for the Promotion of Music (Lebam) and ESNCM.

2015:
– March: Workshop for 8 music teachers in Choral Conducting.
