The project was implemented in Syria from 2010 until 2015, benefiting a total of 248 children aged between 4 and 15 years old.

In 2015 there are 5 choirs:

  • 4 choirs bringing together children who initially came from UNRWA schools in the Yarmouk refugee camp. During the war, these families moved to the Sahnaya area for security reasons. Despite the challenging conditions of life, children continue to attend lessons in Sahnaya Cultural Centre with the same enthusiasm and dedication.

  • 1 choir of 15 disabled children. In addition to providing access to music education for children with disabilities, the main goal of the programme was to help integrate these children into society via music.

In 2014, local community created the “Association of Al Sununu friends” to locally sustain the project in partnership with AER.

At the end of each year, a graduation concert was organised to award students with a certificate of completion. Al Sununu choirs also performed for special events.
